What I’m Grateful for- July 2017

A Better Life Lived Posted on August 7 by About KiraApril 8

Zach experienced the fireworks for the first time and seemed to enjoy them (though not as much as I expected). It … More…

How to Fight Fear for Women’s Safety

A Better Life Lived Posted on August 2 by About KiraFebruary 12
Women's safety is an increasingly important issue. Overcome the fear and tackle the issue head on.

If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you know that I try to maintain a positive and uplifting vibe in all of my posts. Negativity isn’t something any of us need more of. I want this to be a safe place where you can come for advice and positive ideas to live better and refocus on the important things in life. This is not a place for conflict, complaints, or despair. Buying a House? Avoid this Mistake!

A Better Life Lived Posted on August 12 by About KiraOctober 1
mistakes buying a house

Recently, I read a post by Christine over at The Mostly Simple Life blog about the biggest mistake you can make when buying a house.  She concluded that buying a house that was too expensive for you is the largest problem. This got me thinking about when my husband and I bought our first home 7 years ago. While I think her conclusion is definitely one of the top things you want to consider, I disagree that buying a home that’s too expensive is the biggest mistake. What do I think is the biggest mistake?   Buying a house without regard for the location is the number one mistake new homeowners can make. “Location, location, location” is completely true, in my opinion. While … More…

Why I Stopped Following the News and So Should You

A Better Life Lived Posted on August 11 by About KiraOctober 1
Why I stopped following the news and so should you-how to combat the negativity in the mainstream media and stay informed with good news

Choosing to follow the news in mainstream media is like making the decision to slowly poison myself. Most reports are incredibly negative and can turn a good mood to bad immediately. I already spend a lot of my day combating negativity. I see it at the office, in the car, at the store, and on the radio. It is everywhere. Why? Because negativity sells. Negativity bias is the idea that our brains are hardwired to register negative interactions with more sensitivity.
