Quarter 1 Update: Progress on My New Year Goals

A Better Life Lived Posted on March 29 by About KiraMarch 29
My quarter 1 progress update on my New Year goals! See where I've nailed it, and where I failed it!

Every year, my family and I create a list of goals for the new year. I posted our goals for 2017 in the beginning of January. As promised, I will be posting quarterly progress updates to hold myself accountable. Overall, quarter one went pretty well. I definitely made some progress in the financial category and a little in business. Health didn’t go quite as well. As I expected, that’s where I struggled most. So let’s get into it. We’ll take a look at where I’ve nailed it, and where I’ve failed it. Then I’ll go over why I might have failed and how I can do better next quarter!   Goals and Progress so far   Family & Financial Finish fixing … More…

How To Increase Personal Growth and Enhance Your Life; Accept Advice!

A Better Life Lived Posted on March 20 by About KiraFebruary 13
It's amazing how making this one simple change in how we think can lead to personal growth and enhance our lives!

If there is one thing parents hate, it’s unsolicited advice on how to raise their children. The best way to feed them, how to care for them properly when they’re sick, and the best forms of discipline are all popular topics. It can be so frustrating to feel like everyone is telling us what to do. Not to mention, it makes us feel like other people don’t think we know what we’re doing. It’s insulting and makes us feel belittled. Parents aren’t alone in this battle. Everyone struggles with being offered advice when they didn’t ask for it. Whether it be about a serious topic like marriage or a superficial one like which brand of shampoo is best, unsolicited advice … More…

Grateful Living- February 2017

A Better Life Lived Posted on March 8 by About KiraMarch 7
Take a moment to be grateful and appreciate the little things in life. Realize that those little things are the big things.

February was so busy and just flew by. I started some brand new training with EBA so that I can improve the blog which was so exciting. The hubby was still working some overtime making for some long days. And we FINALLY got together with family a few hours away to celebrate Christmas! Only two months late, but whatever.   Why a monthly grateful living post? So often we get stuck in the day-to-day hustle and forget to acknowledge what’s really important. If someone were to ask “What’s most important to you?” we would be quick to respond with things like family, friends, being a good person, and so on. Unfortunately, we allow ourselves to get sidetracked a lot and … More…

Feeling ashamed after having a C-Section?

A Better Life Lived Posted on February 10 by About KiraFebruary 19
Are you feeling ashamed, or like less of a woman or mother because of your c-section?

Every mother should be able to look back on her child’s birth with pride, accomplishment, amazement and joy. Unfortunately, this isn’t always the case. Many c-section mothers have been tormented; both by their own internal doubts as well as comments from others. They often feel they are less of a woman and less of a sense of accomplishment because they were unable to give birth the way a woman is “supposed to.” None of this could be further from the truth. The truth is, sometimes things just don’t go according to plan… “Have a plan, but keep an open mind.” This was some of the first advice we received during an early Centering Pregnancy meeting, and it was advice that continued … More…

Grateful Living- January 2017

A Better Life Lived Posted on February 4 by About KiraApril 8
Take a moment to be grateful and appreciate the little things in life. Realize that those little things are the big things.

January was a simple month. With the winding down after the holidays and making arrangements for various things in the coming year, it was overall very calm. Work was a little more stressful and we had some sickness to overcome, but overall it was a pleasant month. Even the weather was rather mild aside from a few days mid-month. For Wisconsin, I can’t really complain! Let’s get into what I’m grateful for this month…   Why a monthly grateful living post? So often we get stuck in the day-to-day hustle and forget to acknowledge what’s really important. If someone were to ask “What’s most important to you?” we would be quick to respond with things like family, friends, being a … More…

Grateful Living- December 2016

A Better Life Lived Posted on January 3 by About KiraApril 8
Grateful Living December 2016 Take a moment to be grateful and appreciate the little things in life. Realize that those little things are the big things.

So often we get stuck in the day-to-day hustle and forget to acknowledge what’s really important. If someone were to ask “What’s most important to you?” we would be quick to respond with things like family, friends, being a good person, and so on. Unfortunately, we allow ourselves to get sidetracked a lot and temporarily “forget” our priorities. Unanswered emails clamor for our attention, deadlines and “to-do” lists clutter up our minds and steal our attention. As a way to temporarily silence these outside distractions, I like to look back over the past month and remind myself what is beautiful in my life. I try to identify three things that have happened in the past few weeks that I am grateful for … More…

My Goals for the New Year

A Better Life Lived Posted on January 3 by About KiraOctober 1
An accountability partner to help me crush my goals this year!

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season filled with family, friends, joy, and fun. I know I certainly did! After celebrating with friends and family and some much needed time off from work, I’m ready to take on this new year. As is our annual tradition, my family and I have created out yearly list of goals for the new year. It’s hard to stay accountable with goals and promises we make to ourselves. I know I struggle when the success or failure affects only me. If someone else is relying on me though, I have no trouble. Does this sound like you? Take comfort knowing you know not alone. It’s a common phenomenon that many people suffer … More…
