20 Healthy, Simple treats for an Amazing Toddler Easter Basket

A Better Life Lived Posted on March 18 by About KiraFebruary 13
20 amazing ideas for healthier treats that are so much better for a toddler Easter basket!

Do you remember your Easter baskets when you were a kid? I sure do. On Easter morning, I couldn’t wait to find my Easter Basket and consume all the sugary goodness it contained. Cadbury eggs, Marshmallow Peeps, jelly beans, chocolate bunnies. I’m practically drooling just thinking about it! Unfortunately, those sweet treats are exactly the reason that I struggle with weight and a bit of a sugar addiction now. Since I don’t want my son to develop those same unhealthy habits, I’ve made a point of giving him minimal sugary treats. Instead, I try to give him healthier sweet treats on a daily basis. The treats in his Easter basket will be no exception. Extra sugar and other bad ingredients … More…

Looking for ways to celebrate Valentine's Day with kids? Here are 5 ways to make it a meaningful, special day that both you and the kids will love!

Kids constantly desire attention and affection from their parents. They all have different ways of expressing those needs, but it’s always pretty clear. Previously, I wrote about the five things our kids need most from us. A lot of those needs center around their desire to feel loved by us, their parents. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I thought I would share some ideas for making kids feel special and loved on that special day. It’s an excellent day to set aside time to celebrate with our kids and express our love. Valentine’s Day isn’t just for romance! Valentine’s Day is a day devoted to showing our love for others. As such, it’s a great day to show our love not only … More…

Toddler’s are so easily entertained. Yet we buy them endless amounts of gifts that have buttons, buzzers, lights and music. They wind up, glow, and move on their own. Why? The One Thing that Increased My Milk Production Dramatically!

A Better Life Lived Posted on October 14 by About KiraSeptember 10
Baby nursing with text overlay: The one thing that increased my milk production dramatically!

When I decided to nurse my son, I was a little concerned that it would be difficult. I think all mothers have concerns about how breast feeding will go. Fortunately, I produced very well from day one. However, when I returned to work after 12 weeks, I started to have less time and missed some pumping sessions. It didn’t take long before my extreme milk production reduced to barely making enough to feed my baby enough for his giant sized appetite. After trying to increase pumping session length, increasing fluid intake, and adding pumping sessions, I saw a minimal increase. And then, my loving husband found the one thing that increased my milk production dramatically! This post contains affiliate … More…

10 Healthy Toddler Approved Snacks for the Whole Family!

A Better Life Lived Posted on September 30 by About KiraSeptember 20
Healthy, toddler approved snacks for the whole family!

Here we are at our final day of toddler approved meals! Today isn’t about actual “meals” but rather healthy, toddler approved snacks. Since we’re always on the go, snacks are a critical part of our day. Little toddler bellies don’t always hold very much and the several hours between meals is just too long for them. As such, we always have snacks on hand for him while we’re out and about. Snacks aren’t just important for him. Since we’re trying to eat healthier, stopping for snacks or fast food is just not a good option. In addition to the health factor, it’s much more costly to stop for snacks. So I like to always try to make sure I have … More…

10 Healthy Toddler Approved Breakfast for the Whole Family!

A Better Life Lived Posted on September 29 by About KiraSeptember 20
healthy toddler approved breakfasts for the whole family!

On to round three of healthy, toddler approved meals! So far we’ve covered dinner and lunch. While those are definitely the more complicated meals, finding a toddler approved breakfast can sometimes be a challenge too. Eggs are pretty much my go-to breakfast food for myself and it works for Zach, too. Still, I felt like I needed to expand his horizons. I want him to continue to be adventurous with food and willing to try new things. If I don’t continue offering up new options, he’ll lose that willingness to try. Breakfast is difficult in its own right because there is a small group of foods that are generally thought of as breakfast. Toast, eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, oatmeal. That pretty … More…

10 Healthy Toddler Approved Lunch Meals for the Whole Family!

A Better Life Lived Posted on September 28 by About KiraSeptember 20
healthy toddler approved lunches for the whole family!

Welcome back! It’s time for round two of healthy, toddler approved meals. Yesterday was all about dinner. Today we’re going to talk toddler approved lunch. I don’t know about you, but when I’m home with Zachary or packing lunch for work, we never eat the same thing. I prepare a bunch of stuff in advance for him and then scarf something down myself. Usually, I don’t eat until after he’s done. That way, I can use the time while he’s eating to do some quick dishes or other tasks in the kitchen. More often than not, it’s some kind of sandwich, salad or frozen pizza, none of which he can have. Sometimes, I only grab a handful of crackers or … More…
