Happiness

Happiness isn’t a guarantee. Life is stressful and we sometimes need to work at maintaining it. With all of the responsibilities to tend to each day, those things which raise our happiness levels frequently get put on the back burner. To be our happiest selves, we need to make sure we take time for self-care, hobbies, passions and purpose. Ensuring that we live with intention to reclaim wasted time and spend it on what makes us happiest is essential!

Confession: 5 Reasons I Don’t Wear Makeup (and you shouldn’t either)

A Better Life Lived Posted on January 21 by About KiraJanuary 30
picture of woman without makeup with text overlay "Confession: Why I don't wear makeup and you shouldn't either!"

Confession time. Some of you who know me in real life already know this, but I don’t wear makeup. Like, any. That’s not to say I don’t mind having fun with it for super special occasions, like my wedding. But otherwise, I wear chapstick at the most. (And that’s only because winters in Wisconsin are miserably dry.) I don’t even wear blush or lipgloss. I can’t remember the last time I did. In fact, I should probably quickly go throw out the few things I do have as they’re probably all bad by now. This blog is dedicated to helping moms like you be more yourself, and in line with who you are and what you want your life to … More…

Life can be rough and stressful and overwhelming. Sometimes you just want to turn your brain off. No one can be serious and deep in thought all the time. Since laughter is so good for you, take some time for yourself or with your spouse to simmer that brain down and have a good laugh! One of my favorite ways to relax and enjoy time with my spouse or family is to watch a movie. It’s so relaxing! This is especially true if I’ve had a long, stressful day. Because kids, right? My go-to movies in these moments are lighthearted, simple comedies. Sometimes I just want a movie that makes me laugh. Here are some of the best movies for … More…

A Better Life Lived Posted on January 10 by About KiraFebruary 11
Picture of Woman with text overlay "accept your imperfections 3 things I suck at & I'm totally okay with!

If you want to be happier, lots of people might say you should focus on your weaknesses and try to improve them to make yourself better. I think that sometimes, it’s better to just accept your imperfections. The idea that you need to improve upon your weaknesses means you spend a lot of time focusing on the things you’re not great at. If you ask me, that’s not a great way to be happy. I think we’re a lot better off focusing on the things we’re great at. One way to accept your imperfections is to identify a few things you aren’t very good at and acknowledge it. Accept it. Then be okay with it. Is it really important if … More…

We all have things we care about. Causes that we want to help, or spread awareness of to make a difference in our world. But how often do we actively pursue those causes? For most of us, the answer is “as often as I can, but not as much as I’d like to.” That’s why this year, I’m going to find a cause I’m passionate about and focus on only that one, 100%! Why focusing on one cause matters I don’t know about you, but my vein for wanting to help my world runs pretty deep. I care about everything. Which is great, because we certainly do need people who care and are compelled to act on those feelings to … More…

How to Live in the Moment More with this Weird Trick

A Better Life Lived Posted on November 9 by About KiraFebruary 25
Woman with arms open under balloons in the sky with text overlay "How to Live in the Moment with this Weird Trick!"

When I was younger, I was an over-analyzing worrier. I worried about everything; things that didn’t matter, things that would probably never happen. It kept me from fully living in the moment. I was always afraid of possible outcomes; what could happen, how I could react to what could happen, and so on. I still occasionally worry and over-analyze, but not nearly as much anymore. It became significantly less since my son was born. Overnight almost I learned how to live in the moment more. There wasn’t anything that I actively did to figure out how to live in the moment more after he was born. It just happened. Although you may not have a life event that causes this … More…
