Intentional Living

Happiness is different for everyone. But universally, it takes living with intention to achieve your happiness. These are articles that will help you identify what lights you up and fuels your happiness, and how to live intentionally and with purpose to achieve that happiness consistently. Because happiness shouldn’t be hoped for around the edges of all of the “have to do’s” of life. Happiness should be within all of our reach.

Why you need to find a cause to focus on this year

A Better Life Lived Posted on January 6 by About KiraJanuary 13
Someone handing flowers to someone else with text overlay "why you need to find a cause to focus on this year"

We all have things we care about. Causes that we want to help, or spread awareness of to make a difference in our world. But how often do we actively pursue those causes? For most of us, the answer is “as often as I can, but not as much as I’d like to.” That’s why this year, I’m going to find a cause I’m passionate about and focus on only that one, 100%! Why focusing on one cause matters I don’t know about you, but my vein for wanting to help my world runs pretty deep. I care about everything. Which is great, because we certainly do need people who care and are compelled to act on those feelings to … More…

How to Live in the Moment More with this Weird Trick

A Better Life Lived Posted on November 9 by About KiraFebruary 25
Woman with arms open under balloons in the sky with text overlay "How to Live in the Moment with this Weird Trick!"

When I was younger, I was an over-analyzing worrier. I worried about everything; things that didn’t matter, things that would probably never happen. It kept me from fully living in the moment. I was always afraid of possible outcomes; what could happen, how I could react to what could happen, and so on. I still occasionally worry and over-analyze, but not nearly as much anymore. It became significantly less since my son was born. Overnight almost I learned how to live in the moment more. There wasn’t anything that I actively did to figure out how to live in the moment more after he was born. It just happened. Although you may not have a life event that causes this … More…

It’s also such an easy way to spread happiness! This post contains affiliate links. If you make a purchase through one of these links, I will receive a small commission at no cost to you. Thank you! How to make time with family a top priority

A Better Life Lived Posted on August 14 by About KiraDecember 17
When you don't have a lot of free time, the things we value most can suffer. Here's how to make time with family a top priority with the time you do have.

Family is important. It’s one of the most important things in life. Yet we constantly find ourselves wishing we had more time because we don’t spend enough time with our families. Why is that? It sometimes seems like everything urgent in life rushes in and crowds out the important stuff. We struggle to make time with family a top priority. That’s why we have to schedule family time in order to protect it as one of our core priorities. I’ve always been very family focused. Even as a little girl, I could never imagine moving too far away from my close-knit community of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Anything less than twice weekly visits just seemed wrong. But as I … More…

What I’m Grateful for – November 2017

A Better Life Lived Posted on December 4 by About KiraApril 20
Take a moment to be grateful and appreciate the little things in life. Realize that those little things are the big things.

November was an awesome month. The weather has been so fantastic! It was a little cold a few days, but it actually felt like Autumn instead of just nose-diving straight into Winter at the end of October. Aside from some pretty great weather, I already have most of my Christmas shopping done. No mad rushing for me this December! I did my annual Black Friday shopping with my mom and sister. While I didn’t have much to buy initially, I did get some ideas and accomplished some things so yay! Another successful Black Friday (including a whole new set of dog toys so we can throw out all of their old ratty ones.) Zachary’s been sick a lot this month … More…

What I’m Grateful for – October 2017

A Better Life Lived Posted on November 6 by About KiraFebruary 12
Take a moment to be grateful and appreciate the little things in life. Realize that those little things are the big things.

October has gone by so fast. I know time seems to be going by quicker all the time, but it really feels like this month started, I blinked, and October was gone. We were so busy this month. I’m sure it will only get worse as the year comes to an end! October was filled with a lot of work towards potty training. We’re starting to make some headway, but it’s been a lot of work! He’s just so stubborn! We also had family pictures taken which, although I haven’t seen them yet, I think will turn out great. Zachary had some done in his Halloween costume and they should be really cute. We may have even gotten some good ones … More…
