What I’m Grateful for- May 2017
I can’t believe it’s June!! Where did May go?? 2017 is flying by. Before you know it, it’ll be time to do my second quarterly update on my goals for the year.
May was an amazing month with lots to be grateful for. I figured out some things with the blog that are helping me to move forward. I was stuck for a little while down a wrong path for a little while. May 31st was also my last day at a job I wasn’t happy at. And to top it all off, my beautiful boy turned 2! I can’t believe it’s been two years since he was born. The time goes by so fast.
May also brought with it the beginning of rummage sale season, beautiful weather and the ability to spend more time outdoors. Add to that the wonderful celebration of Mother’s day and May is becoming my favorite month every year!
Why a monthly grateful post?
So often we get stuck in the day-to-day hustle and forget to acknowledge what’s really important. If someone were to ask “What’s most important to you?” we would be quick to respond with things like family, friends, being a good person, and so on. Unfortunately, we allow ourselves to get sidetracked a lot and temporarily “forget” our priorities. Unanswered emails clamor for our attention, deadlines and “to-do” lists clutter up our minds and steal our attention. As a way to temporarily silence these outside distractions, I like to look back over the past month and remind myself what is beautiful in my life. I try to identify three things that have happened in the past few weeks that I am grateful for and recognize them. I remind myself that these small moments are what make up my life and have value. And for them, I am grateful.
Let’s get into what I’m grateful for this month…
3 Things I’m Grateful for in May
- A career change.
After a lot of searching, and a lot of failures I finally can say I am officially no longer in the logistics industry. *happy dance* It’s just not for me. The business is lucrative, and I’m good at it, but I absolutely don’t love it. I don’t even like it. It’s a very chaotic, stressful career path. But it’s behind me now. I’ve taken a position in guest relations for a large local business as a coordinator. I think this is much more suited to me and I’ll be much happier. Wish me luck! - My wonderful son.
We celebrated Zachary’s second birthday this month. These two years have flown by and I am floored every day by how quickly he learns and grows. Looking back at his baby photos, it amazes us how small that once huge looking baby now seems. He’s turning into a little man. Happy, healthy, full of life and curiosity. We are so grateful to have such a wonderful child. I can’t imagine life without him. - A supportive husband.
The career change is throwing a bit of a wrench into our financial plans, but it was something that needed to happen. Luckily, I am fortunate enough to have someone who is willing to figure out a way to make it happen. If it were not for that, I would not have been able to make the change and would still be stuck in a career I hated.
I hope you all had a fantastic month as well and have lots to be grateful for. I’d love to hear what some of those things are!
