Grateful Living- May 2016
So often we get stuck in the day-to-day hustle and forget to acknowledge what’s really important. If someone were to ask “What’s most important to you?” we would be quick to respond with things like family, friends, being a good person, and so on. Unfortunately, we allow ourselves to get sidetracked a lot and temporarily “forget” our priorities. Unanswered emails clamor for our attention, deadlines and “to-do” lists clutter up our minds and steal our attention. As a way to temporarily silence these outside distractions, I like to look back over the past month and remind myself what is beautiful in my life. I try to identify three things that have happened in the past few weeks that I am grateful for and recognize them. I remind myself that these are what make up my life and have value. And for them, I am grateful.
Top 3 things I’m grateful for in May
- 1 Year with my son. On the 25th, my son turned one! We celebrated his birthday with family and had a great day. He’s been with us for such a short time but I cannot imagine life without him. Thankfully, he is a happy, healthy, thriving boy and we are so lucky to have it so easy.
- Spring! The weather has been beautiful, allowing us to go on plenty of walks as a family. The dogs are loving it, it’s good for our health, and after a long, cold winter stuck inside, it’s great to be able to spend time outdoors again!
- A caring partner. Andy has started to take Zachary once a week so that I can focus more on the blog. Since I have a very hard time not being with my family and working on personal projects when they are around, once a week they leave the house and go to Nana’s, shopping, wherever they want. During that time, I can focus 100% on writing. I’m fully aware that many people don’t get that luxury.
What are you grateful for this month?
-To your Better Life-
Kira
